Oman boosts local products with 'Made in Oman' campaign

02/01/24

Omani products have significantly benefitted from the recent 'Made in Oman' campaign which took place across the Sultanate. The campaign played an important role in enhancing public awareness of purchasing Oman made products and supporting Omani producers and exporters.

It was organised by various stakeholders including the Ministry of Commerce Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP), the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and the Joint Committee for External Exhibitions of Omani Products (OPEX).

Importantly, the MoCIIP highlighted the strong international reputation of Omani made products. This is further demonstrated by competitive exports reaching over 130 countries mainly in sectors including construction and food. Such exports support the national economy by boosting gross domestic product (GDP) and enhancing the national identity by contributing to building a positive and patriotic reputation.

Moreover, the ‘Made in Oman’ campaign aimed to promote the new national product identity logo, which can be displayed on packaging. It also encouraged industrial establishments to obtain a licence for the national product identity. Additionally, it boosted national products while at the same time highlighting their quality and competitiveness. Also, the campaign aimed to increase integration and strengthen partnerships between industrial establishments and small and medium enterprises. Further goals included establishing communication channels between producers and consumers.
